I traveled to Haiti on the same day of the Earthquake.
I boarded Delta flight 435 on Jan 12 2010, which arrived in Port Au Prince at 12:45pm, but I left the capital at 3:50pm to go to St-Marc.
Upon my arrival in St-Marc, our house started shaking vilantly, and my family and I ran out to seek shelter outside and everything in the yard was bouncing left to right.
We were scare, for we weren't sure what was going on in the country.
at first, I thought the whole world was coming to an end as the scientist predicted.
Then, we found out later in the news that Haiti has been strucked with a 7.0 magnitude earthquake.
I was stunned to have traveled to Haiti on this very day. Yet, I'm glad I was to share the pains, the sorrows, and the sadness of my people.
I began to love the Haitian people more than ever. I admired their courage and strenght to pull each other out from the rubles.
We were living in fear, and eachone of the after shocks took us a day closer to despair.
we suddenly lost our sense of life and begun to wonder WHY HAITI?
Haven't we suffered enough?
How could something like that happen to a nation who was already strugling to cope with normal day to day life. Although it's unfortunate what happen to Haiti, I hope us Haitian who live abroad will use our knowledge, wealth, inspiration, wisdom, and our blessing to help Haiti stand once more. We cannot let Haiti fail or ever be forgotten.
After God, it's up to us to help her survive.
